When considering a labradoodle it is important to do your homework. There are different types of labradoodles. You can buy a labradoodle that is a simple cross between a lab and poodle for less money than an Australian Labradoodle. But, be careful if you are considering a lab poodle cross. Many lab x poodle mixes still shed (which is problematic especially for allergy suffers). They also have size restrictions: many doodles are large in size similar to that of a standard poodle. Also, many lab poodle mixes look very poodle like in appearance. Australian Labradoodles have been carefully bred for temperament, appearance, coat quality (non-shedding), and size. There is much more consistency with Australian Labradoodles than lab poodle mixes. If you are making an investment for a family companion that will be around for 15 yrs., why not get the best?
